You’re not alone

When you live with chronic pain, or pain of any kind, it’s seemingly the most important thing in your life. It can take precedent over relationships, your mental health, your eating habits and your spiritual walk. You start to ask yourself why God would ever allow you to go through something like this or simply why me? The fact of the matter is, you're not alone.

This may not bring you the greatest of comfort, but accepting this phrase in your heart will: I do not have to be a product of my pain. This is not the best life gets. “The story isn’t over if the story isn’t good.

Getting to the root cause of your pain, whether it’s physical, mental or spiritual, can shift your story of pain into a story of transformation.

My story

Growing up with scoliosis caused by hemihypertrophy was never easy. For those of you who do not know, hemihypertrophy is a condition that causes one side of your body to be smaller than the other. It can lead to greater health problems, like an increased risk of tumors. Thankfully, this was not my story. While it affected my entire body, the greatest impact was on my legs: my right leg grew at a slower rate than my left leg. As did my toes, which affects my balance to this day. As I stopped growing my right leg was ⅜ of an inch shorter than my left. I used to wear a lift to correct this issue. Short-term, it helped my spine. However, no young adult wants to go through life not wearing flip flops or heels.

You may be wondering what my story has to do with getting to the root cause of your pain. What I’m about to tell you may seem impossible (if you’ve never been exposed to this sort of thing), but I experience a miracle healing in my life! On September 5, 2021, my church laid their hands on me and prayed over my leg and it grew! What was a thorn in my side for 21 years, is now my miracle story today! My legs are now the same size (you’re welcome to follow my journey on my instagram or facebook)!

Glory be to God for taking my root away. My chronic pain root was healed in a matter of seconds. Does this mean that my back pain went away completely? That my scoliosis is healed? In my case, no. It did not. Getting rid of the root did not heal the symptoms, because the root had already dug so deep that it caused a lot of damage. Despite all this, I believe God did not fully heal me for a reason. So that I could be a testimony of the miracle of healing, but also to the process of healing.

Each day, it gets better. My spine has slowly been straightening. My left shoulder blade, that has stuck out all my life, is slowly moving back to its rightful place because I exercise it whenever I can. My body is adjusting to my healing. It isn’t an instantaneous thing, it’s work.

Your story

Just like my miracle healing, you might have a root that is causing a lot of damage in your life. It may not be causing a physical curve in your spine, but perhaps it’s affecting a relationship with a loved one, spouse, friend, boyfriend or girlfriend. Maybe it’s demotivating you and it’s transpiring as extra weight that you can’t seem to lose, no matter what you do. It could be creating toxic habits in your life, so that you try to escape reality instead of facing it. Or maybe it’s simply causing you pain.

Friend, let me tell you from experience. Do not let it cause damage beyond repair. You do not have to be a product of your pain. You can take control of your health today!

One thing that helps me is God. He is bigger than all my problems, I know that He works for my good and that nothing can separate me from His love!

Find what helps you. What grounds you? What is your why? If you can answer that, you can center your life around your why and have something to build your life upon. You can have a firm foundation that cannot be shaken when the waves of life come crashing down.

What you fall back on, doesn’t mean there will be an absence of pain and suffering. It means that you will have people, memories and tools to help you get through the ups and downs of life. This is my biggest advice to you. God gives me hope, what gives you hope?

Comment your why below! What is the thing/person/event that gives your life purpose?

I love this post and your testimony! I am dealing with some pain issues recently myself. And just like you, I have been praying and trying to find the root cause (maybe just getting older). Your story gives me hope and I find happiness and gratitude in knowing He is with me through all of this.

Thank you so much! He truly is with you :) sometimes I have to look back and see what God did with my leg, and it still gives me hope to move forward. I’m extremely blessed I got to experience it firsthand! It’s such a miracle, praise God!
